Out of the 845,099 pupils, only 27,267 were able to get 50% or above. Under the government’s scholarship scheme, these pupils will enroll straight in public colleges.
Starting today, the Ministry announced that students can verify their placement university via Friday afternoon.
The remedial program’s announced cutoff points
The ministry also revealed the cutoff criteria for its remedial program that day, enabling students who scored reasonably well to raise their marks and continue their undergraduate education.
According to officials, pupils who scored at least 30% on the national test this year will be added to the program.
The ministry has established several benchmarks for students studying the social and scientific sciences.
Consequently, 255 for male students and 234 for female students are the cutoff criteria for natural science students in the regular and night education programs.
In the regular and night programs, the cutoff mark for male students in the social sciences will be 212, while for female students it will be 200.
The cut points in the developing areas are 192 for male students and 180 for female students studying social sciences, and 224 for male students and 210 for female students studying natural sciences.
180 for the social sciences stream and 210 for the natural sciences stream are the entry points for students from the pastoralist communities, regardless of gender.
Additionally, kids with hearing impairments must score 150 points or above to enter.
Birhanu Nega, the minister of education, recently informed lawmakers that around 145,000 children will be enrolled in the remedial program this year.
Ninety-six thousand students were given the opportunity to retake exams on subjects on which they had done badly on the first try. Furthermore, over 63, 300 students were able to raise their scores and earn a passing grade.
According to the Mi, they will enter the freshman program with the 27,267 pupils who received a score of 50% or above this year.
The Ministry of Education revealed points to enroll in a remedial program last week, providing students who missed the deadline to apply to institutions with a lifeline. Students enrolled in social science who score more than 220 for men and 190 for women are classified in the remedial program, whereas students in natural science must score no less than 263 for men and 227 for women. The 29,909 pupils who achieved a score of more than 50% will enroll in universities straight away. Only 3.3 percent of the approximately one million pupils who took the test were able to achieve more than 50 percent, according to the results of the national tests released by the Ministry of Education last month. The Ministry disclosed that university entry points will not be reduced by more than half, putting 866,611 students in a difficult situation. This amount represents fewer than 25% of the 152,000 first-year students who enrolled in the 42 public institutions in the previous academic year. There are 47 public universities with a combined budget of 33 billion Br for recurring expenses and more than 61 billion Br allotted for the year.
