National Graduate Admission Test Result NGAT

The exam for the upcoming academic year will be given by Addis Ababa University
The Ministry of Education has decided to conduct the post-graduate entrance exam, which was given individually by private and public higher education institutions, in the same system and in a centralized manner.

To this end, it has been decided that the institutions will give their admission tests (Graduate Admission Test) to the postgraduate students who have registered to teach in the 2016 academic year, for similar programs at the Addis Ababa University Examination Center.

Signed by the Minister of Education Berhanu Nega (Professor) on July 20, 2015. The letter written to all public universities and private higher education institutions, and seen by the reporter, describes the changes that have been made in the admission of post-graduate students, stating the need to “follow a close system”.

The Ministry of Education stated in the letter that it has found public and private institutions that register students who have applied for post-graduation studies without taking a qualifying exam.

As there are steps to be taken to correct the gap seen when the educational institutions open post-graduate programs, as well as the admission system that weighs students down, “as a country, it is believed that it is important to give an entrance exam,” the letter says.

Addis Ababa University Examination Center will conduct the entrance exam for related and similar programs from September 20 to 28, 2016. It was decided to give.

According to the decision, the list of programs accepted by the institutes for the next academic year will be up to August 20, 2015. They were instructed to inform the Ministry of Education.

In continuation, both public and private institutions have been approved and submitted to the Ministry of Education for post-graduation programs, issued notices to students seeking education, and recorded the list of registered candidates until September 10, 2016. The letter instructs them to inform the Ministry of Education.

In particular, it is known that private higher education institutions conduct post-graduate registration twice a year and their academic year starts in September and January. According to the letter, the Ministry of Education has not made plans for the January registrations.

The General Manager of the Association of Private Higher Education Institutions, Ato Tegnege Aleme, told the reporter that he received the order in a letter, and that his association supported the centralization of the examination in a discussion yesterday, but complained about certain decisions.

“If the exam is held once a year at least twice, it will create an opportunity for those who want to learn and wait for the whole year,” said the general manager. Although his association believes that the exam will be national and there is no difference in the concept, he will inform the ministry in a letter about the difference in the procedure.

He stated that the private higher education institutions can complain about the decision to prepare the test at Addis Ababa University’s test center.

The general manager added that the union will be asked to discuss the complaint and support of the association in a letter.
