Under the general supervision of the MCH Specialty Centre Manager, the MCH Centre OPD Head is in charge of planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and coordinating the MCH Centre outpatient services. This role is responsible for ensuring that clinical MCH services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
• Duties and tasks.
Strategy and Planning
• Helps sustain the MSI Ethiopia program and improve access to family planning and SRH services in Ethiopia through effective MCH services.
• Actively participates in the MCH Centre management team and leads quarterly performance reviews for service uptake.
• Assists with annual business planning, including service target setting and activity planning at the MCH Centre.
• Assists in setting annual targets for MCH services and ensuring their implementation.
• Creates and submits work plans and budgets for OPD services.
Team Leadership
• Leads and directs the OPD staff.
• Organizes, deploys, and supervises OPD staff in compliance with MSIE HR policies.
• Establishes effective communication systems between OPD staff and other MCH center units, including technical and operational teams.
• Identifies and aligns OPD services with the MCH center’s overall priorities.
• Coaches and develops technical skills for the OPD team.
• Ensures quality of MCH services provided by OPD staff through monitoring and tracking.
• Motivates OPD staff to provide effective services.
• Ensures MSIE procedures are followed when handling human resource issues for OPD staff.
• Collaborates with the MCH Centre Manager to identify and schedule training for OPD staff on a regular basis.
• Performs mid-year KPI reviews and annual performance appraisals for OPD staff.
MCH Services
• Ensures efficient client care delivery.
• Assists with nursing duties, such as providing MCH services and health education at OPD.
• Provides subsidized/free services for eligible clients in accordance with the organization’s regulations.
• Ensures client cards and medical records are properly filled out and easily accessible for reference and inspection.
• Submits regular reports on OPD services, including quantitative and qualitative data.
• Reports clinical incidents on time in accordance with MSIE guidelines.
• Participates in evaluating clinical programs and research, and applies findings.
• Ensures MCH unit service delivery adheres to MSIE’s clinical care quality standards.
• Supervises medical staff to prioritize client needs during service delivery.
Resource Management
• Leads and directs the OPD staff.

BSc in midwifery, nursing, or public health

Four years of practical experience.

• Demonstrated ability to act independently within MSIE authority delegation.
