For the following job positions, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) is inviting qualified candidates.

The goal of ECA is to provide solutions and ideas for an empowered and transformed Africa, guided by Agenda 2063 and the 2030 SDGs. The five new strategic directions of ECA serve as a roadmap for the organization’s mission. These include strengthening the organization’s standing as a preeminent knowledge institution by capitalizing on its exceptional position and privilege to bring both local and global solutions to the continent’s problems; creating macroeconomic and structural policy options to hasten economic diversification and job creation; and creating and executing cutting-edge financing models for infrastructure and human resources. Physical and social resources for an Africa that is changing; supporting Africa’s place at the global level and creating regional responses as a contribution to global governance issues; offering answers to regional and transboundary problems, with an emphasis on peace, security, and social inclusion as a key development nexus.

Economic Commission for Africa Careers:

Position: Human Resources Intern

Qualifications/special skills:

Applicants to the program must fulfill one of the following conditions at the time of application: Two requirements must be met: (a) You must be enrolled in or have completed a first degree program; (b) You must be enrolled in or have completed the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). To apply for the United Nations Internship Program, you do not need to have any prior work experience. But throughout your internship, your education, experience, advanced coursework, and skills ought to help the UN. (C) It is preferred to have a formal education in management studies, adult education, or human resources management.Work experience is not required for this internship program; however, it is desirable to have prior experience with survey design, data analysis, and presentation. (E) Excellent computer skills with Microsoft applications; experience with Moodle would be an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily responsibilities will vary and depend on the individual’s background, including but not limited to:

• Support the update and improvement of the O-Induction on our Moodle platform.

• Support the language center with the monitoring and documenting of the language class attendance.

• Contribute to the “Career and Learning Stop Shop” – coordinating schedules, and collaborating on career support offerings.

• Contribute to conceptualizing a skills inventory to align subject experts with mentees for informal internal mentoring processes.

• Reviewing and providing input on the design of HR dashboards and compilation of statistical data

• Providing administrative support to ongoing projects

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
