European Union Vacancy 2024
The European Union invites suitable candidates for the following employment openings. The European Union (EU) is an economic and political alliance of 27 European countries. It contributes significantly to international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid, and collaboration with global organizations. The EU has around 140 diplomatic representations worldwide. Also known as EU Delegations, they provide a similar duty to an embassy.

The European Union supports Ethiopia’s efforts to reduce poverty, encourage inclusive and sustainable economic, social, and environmental development, and promote human rights, democracy, and other aspects of good governance.

 

Development funding also helps to promote cooperation and conversation in the key areas of mutual interest listed in the EU-Ethiopia strategic engagement. Furthermore, European solidarity is being successfully and openly demonstrated by providing immediate support and relief to Ethiopian populations afflicted by disasters.

 

Position: Driver

Minimum requirements:

 

1. Medically fit to carry out the relevant duties:

 

2. Has civil rights and employment authorization under local law.

 

3. The candidate must have a certificate of completion from secondary school and a minimum valid third-grade driver’s license.

 

4. At least 5 years of experience driving passenger vehicles with both manual and automatic transmissions.

 

5. Strong English language skills:

 

6. Understanding the fundamentals of Microsoft Office

 

7. Can provide good recommendations.

 

The following will be considered as an asset:

 

1. Certificate of Auto mechanics;

 

2. Basic understanding of IT tools.

 

3. Experience in diplomatic missions and international organizations

 

Place of Employment: European Union Delegation in Ethiopia, Addis Abeba.

 

Employment Contract: Indefinite.

 

Working hours per week: 37.5

 

Salary: Group V, beginning basic salary of 696 EUR per month (payable equivalent in Ethiopian Birr)

The procedure

Following the application deadline, the functions will most likely be examined by a Selection Committee formed specifically for this purpose. The Selection Committee will create a shortlist of candidates who are believed to be the best fit for the submission based on a preliminary examination of the material supplied in their proposal letter and accompanying documentation.

The short-listed candidates will be called to an evaluation phase, which may include a written check and an interview; during this stage, the Selection Committee will examine the candidates’ suitability for the submission.

Candidates who have not been shortlisted will not be contacted individually. However, the Delegation will use the same publication strategy as for this Vacancy Notice to inform the remaining candidates after the recruitment procedure is concluded and the candidate has (or has not) been hired.
