Fresh Graduates Are Needed at Amref Health Africa
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Amref Health Africa (previously known as the African Medical Research Foundation) is the leading international health development organization headed by Africans.
Originally established in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to provide vital medical services to isolated communities, Amref Health Africa has since expanded its scope to include managing the planning and execution of health development projects in more than 30 African countries as well as training about 500,000 community health workers.
In order to support the design and implementation of a platform mechanism or mechanisms for health systems strengthening for primary health care (PHC) in Ethiopia, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) is currently investing in the Integrated Health System Strengthening Project in collaboration with Amref Health Africa and MOH.
With connections to national initiatives, this investment largely targets the sub-national level (district and regional). The design will enable PHC administrators and managers in optimizing health systems for better service delivery by integrating essential HSS pillars, such as Human Resources for Health (HRH), Health Care Financing (HCF), Data, and Leadership and Governance.
