The following roles are open to qualified applicants from the European Union. The European Union (EU) is a political and economic alliance of 27 European nations. Through commerce, development assistance, diplomacy, and collaboration with international organizations, it plays a significant influence in world affairs. In addition to supporting human rights, democracy, and other aspects of good governance, the European Union backs Ethiopia’s efforts to end poverty and promote equitable and sustainable economic, social, and environmental growth.
According to the EU-Ethiopia strategic engagement, development funding also helps to foster more collaboration and communication in the primary areas of shared interest. Additionally, swift aid and humanitarian support to Ethiopian populations impacted by crises effectively and publicly ensures European solidarity.
Position: Project Officer
(Forced displacement and Economic Integration)
Selection Criteria:
Minimum Requirements:
- Medically fit to perform the required duties;
- Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law;
- Bachelor‘s Degree in Migration studies or Forced displacement studies or Political Sciences or Economics or Law.
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar position.
- Minimum English language competency ability to understand: C2, read: C2, speak C2 and write C2;
- High level of computer literacy.
- Work experience with International and/or Diplomatic missions and/or International Non-Governmental Organisations on forced displacement and creation of economic opportunities, especially for vulnerable population
The following will be considered as an asset:
- Master’s Degree in Migration studies or Forced displacement studies or Political Sciences or Economics or Law
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in a similar position if the candidate holds a Master’s Degree.
- Experience in working in multicultural environment
- Previous experience on the implementation of EU funded programmes
- Knowledge of Amharic
- Knowledge of French
Place of Employment: Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia – Addis Ababa
Employment Contract: Fixed term – 5 years after the probation period (60 days)
Working hours/week: 37.5
Salary: Group I – with starting basic salary of 2.595 EUR/month (payable equivalent in Ethiopian Birr).
